Kids & Families Programs at The Maryland Zoo take place at an outdoor venue and follow the Zoo’s rules for what can be brought onto Zoo grounds. The program follows Zoo policies that do not allow pets, with the exception of service animals as defined by the ADA under proper supervision. Families attending Kids & Families Programs at The Maryland Zoo are asked to keep shoes and shirts on at all times and to place trash and recyclable items in the proper receptacles.

The Zoo’s mission for Kids & Families Programs at The Maryland Zoo is to engage people in the wonders of the living world through personal encounters with animals, fostering empathy and lifelong support for conservation of wildlife and wild places. The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, which runs these programs, holds AZA Accreditation. The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore is generously supported by the City of Baltimore Cultural Spaces Capital Support Grants Program from the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore. The Zoo’s policies for Kids & Families Programs at The Maryland Zoo state that bicycles, scooters, balloons, skateboards, skates, hoverboards, Frisbees, squirt guns, balls, whistles, radios, drones, glass containers, tobacco or vaping products, alcohol, and weapons of any kind are not permitted on Zoo grounds, and that smoking and vaping are only permitted in the designated area outside of the Main Gate entrance.
