Headfirst Summer Camps serves campers through programs for ages 3–13 and offers four convenient locations in the Washington, DC area. The curriculum is rooted in joyful, purposeful play and blends imagination, hands-on exploration, and guided independence, with a focus on meaningful social, emotional, and skill-based growth. The program states that it aims to create an environment where campers feel seen, known, and celebrated, and it notes that campers can be grouped with their friends.

Headfirst Summer Camps highlights several features, including a carpool line for before and after care, flexibility to change camp topics once registered, swimming every day, and photo updates for parents. Summer 2026 registration is open. The Headfirst Companies report having twenty-five full-time and 700 seasonal team members and operating three divisions, including Professional Camps in partnership with four Major League Baseball teams, one Major League Soccer team, and one National Football League team.

In the fall of 1996, Brendan Sullivan returned to DC and, with a single baseball lesson that September, The Headfirst Companies were born. For 30 years, Headfirst Summer Camps has been the trusted choice for families across Washington, DC, Bethesda, and Northern Virginia. Brendan Sullivan is the founder of The Headfirst Companies, and the stated mission is “to inspire the personal best in high potential kids.” The organization also notes that it lives to elevate its camps as a platform to teach kids about life and open up the possibilities for their future.

Parent testimonials describe “great counselors,” flexibility to a child’s needs, and appreciation for the carpool line for before and after care, as well as the ability to change camp topics after registering. One parent notes that a child “grew so much in skills in just 2 weeks.” Another parent reports that one of their children learned the backstroke in less than one week and describes the counselors as caring and kind and the camp as very well organized. Other parents mention daily swimming as “a big plus,” enjoying photo updates, liking that kids are grouped with their friends, and say that their camper does not want to go anywhere else. One testimonial shares that a camper who previously did not like going to summer camp asked to return after a week at Headfirst and that the parent values the communication and photos that keep them up to date.
