The MakerSpace, launched in the fall of 2017, offers chances to explore and learn new skills, including safety courses for woodworking and metal. In 2018–2019, Chesapeake Arts Center reached over 400 students through free and low-cost arts programs. The mission of Chesapeake Arts Center is to foster creativity, create connections, and inspire joy by delivering innovative and accessible arts and education programs.

Chesapeake Arts Center serves 50,000 visitors annually and offers approximately 150 affordable hands-on arts classes each year. Theater performances at the center are attended by more than 7,000 children under the age of eighteen each year. Scholarships are available so that students with limited financial means can access arts classes for free or at a greatly reduced fee. The center partners with regional arts organizations to present music, drama, and dance performances, and supports area businesses, community groups, and schools to present their offerings on its stages. Chesapeake Arts Center curates more than 20 exhibitions in its galleries each year, including work by emerging artists and students, and also presents offsite exhibits throughout the community. The center engages the community through special events including two free signature events each year: an Open House in the spring and Arts in the Park in the fall. Free and reduced-price arts classes, including after school, are available throughout the year to qualifying residents in the underserved areas of Brooklyn Park, Glen Burnie, and Severn through grants.
