About
Mathnasium of Dunkirk focuses on math-only instruction using the Mathnasium Method. Students work with specially trained math tutors through mental, verbal, visual, tactile, and written techniques in a supportive group setting. The program offers both in-center and live online sessions taught by the same instructors using the same curriculum, and homework help is included as part of sessions.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
Mathnasium of Dunkirk works with K–12 students of all skill levels, including Early Childhood, Elementary School, Middle School, and High School. Early Childhood students are introduced to foundational math concepts through hands-on, playful instruction that builds number sense. Elementary School students in grades 1–5 work on concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals. Middle School students receive support with classes like Prealgebra and Geometry by breaking down abstract ideas into manageable steps, and High School students receive targeted support in advanced math and preparation for standardized tests like the SAT and ACT. Students receive personalized learning plans based on a detailed assessment of their skill level, challenges, and academic goals, and Mathnasium meets each student at their current level in mathematics.
The mission of Mathnasium of Dunkirk is to teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it, with the belief that math can change their lives and that they can change the world. The leadership team includes Center Director Jimmy Moltz; Lead Instructor Chris Odell; and Instructors Kaitlyn Rayfield, Aaransa Hossain, Noah Foster, Grasiella Petrillo, and Mike Pardieck. Jimmy holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Maryland, College Park; Chris holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University; and Aaransa graduated from the University of Maryland. Mathnasium of Dunkirk serves families throughout Dunkirk and nearby areas, including Dunkirk and Owings; Huntingtown and North Beach; Chesapeake Beach and Lothian; Friendship and Sunderland; Calvert County; and Southern Anne Arundel County.
Parent feedback about Mathnasium of Dunkirk includes comments that it has been a great fit for a son who now loves attending and loves math, and that one student earned a first “A” ever on a report card.
