Theatreworks Live offers theatre instruction and performances for children and teens. The program includes activities in theatre, with a focus on both learning and putting on performances.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
Theatreworks Live is a non-profit educational and charitable program that uses theatre as a medium to cultivate confidence, creativity, and character in youth ages 5–18. The program provides a creative and supportive environment for young people from diverse backgrounds to develop technical, artistic, instructive, and administrative skills through instruction and performances. It also encourages students to tap into their imaginations, increase their awareness of their surroundings, and foster understanding and teamwork among their peers. Theatreworks Live is celebrating its 35th Anniversary Season.
Theatreworks Live is led by Executive Directors Cathy Koncurat (President) and Mark Koncurat (Vice President/Treasurer). The board includes Amanda Beanblossom, Philip A. Beanblossom, Jason Sikora, Karisa Sikora, Patti Wade, Greg Watt, Sarah Watt, Beverly Whaley, Katie Weeks, and Josh Weeks. Theatreworks Live maintains an advisory board for future planning and evaluations, and members of this advisory board have been selected for their experience in musical theatre, education, youth leadership, and business administration.
Staff credentials include backgrounds in music education, early childhood education, K–12 art education, classroom teaching, ballet and tap instruction, information technology, project management, sales and management, legal studies, and biology education. Several staff members have experience in areas such as set building, costuming, makeup, theatre tech, and front-of-house theatre work. The program’s educational and charitable mission includes promoting the well-being of children and youth in the home, school, and community.
