About
Montgomery Child Care Association (MCCA) – Garrett Park offers games, arts, outdoor exploration, themed activities, singing, storytime, sensory play, hands-on exploration, and curiosity-driven activities. The program uses developmentally appropriate play-based child care for infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-aged children. The Preschool Program follows the Creative Curriculum® aligned with Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) standards, and the School Age Program includes before and after-school care with engaging activities and nutritious snacks, as well as a Summer Adventures program for children ages 5 to 12 with themed activities and games. Child guidance in the program focuses on respect, trust, honesty, and caring for others, using techniques such as distraction, redirection, and modeling problem solving, and teachers periodically conduct child assessments and develop plans to guide classroom behavior. MCCA is open to all and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, age, sex, disability, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law.

MCCA is a nonprofit child care provider that strives to deliver child care and play-based education for children in Montgomery County, professional training for child care providers, and advocacy for affordable quality child care for families of all income levels and for better training, pay, and benefits for child care professionals. MCCA teachers and aides meet or exceed all professional requirements established by the Maryland State Department of Education, Office of Child Care, and participate in the MSDE Child Care Credentialing program. MCCA provides professional training and customized professional development to staff, and staff are encouraged to pursue higher levels of education through scholarships and other incentives. MCCA offers a Child Care Scholarship Program and the Richard Krampf Summer Adventures Scholarship Fund.
MCCA started its work in 1968 as a Community Action Project of the War on Poverty and has been providing child care for more than 50 years. MCCA has been recognized by the Maryland State Legislature with a Proclamation in 2016 for its commitment to Montgomery County child care and special needs child care, and was selected as a 2018 nonprofit finalist for a MOXIE Award for boldness and innovation. MCCA is the oldest nonprofit licensed child care provider in Montgomery County. MCCA provides licensed and accredited child care programs and offers high-quality child care and early education for families of all income levels and ethnic groups, and strives to meet the unique and diverse child care needs for every child in its programs. Programs emphasize active hands-on exploration of the world as the way children learn, and child care programs are structured to nurture physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
