About
Summer Adventures Camp takes place at The Calverton School and is part of a PreK–12, coed, independent, college-preparatory program in Southern Maryland. The camp is connected to a school community that emphasizes small class sizes and individualized growth, with a student-written Philosophy of Honor evident on campus and a culture that embraces personal integrity, honor, and tolerance. The program runs in a setting that includes a 153-acre campus with the Chesapeake Bay as a backdrop.
Summer Adventures Camp is offered under the leadership of Adrienne Forgette, Head of School. The Calverton School’s mission states that, by fostering a culture of respect, high expectations, and shared experiences, it instills in students intellectual curiosity, personal responsibility, and a strong work ethic to prepare them for higher education and responsible citizenship in a democratic and global community. The school attracts students from five nearby counties and offers the only upper school International Baccalaureate curriculum in Calvert County.
Parents, students, and alumni describe the broader Calverton experience in several ways. Alumni Catie Spaulding (Class of 2015) says, “Calverton gave me a home that fostered confidence, grit, and core values that put meaningful relationships first.” Student Nathaniel Isaac (Class of 2028) notes, “I’ve now been attending the school for five years and as a rising eighth grader, I like the variety of electives, the friendly competition, and the additional support the teachers provide when needed. I feel so much more confident.” Parent Jessica Freeburger shares, “Calverton has given my daughter (Piper-rising 6th grader) the confidence and leadership skills she now portrays daily. Calverton is not just a school, it’s a community and family.”
