U.S. Softball Academy states its mission as “Building Better Players” and offers camps designed to develop skills in all facets of the game with an emphasis on teaching proper fundamentals and techniques. The program is described as the nation’s largest network of softball camps, hosting in more than 100 cities across the country, with a Summer Training Program that is a national program with a local touch. Sessions are age-specific, with instruction tailored for each ability level, and are offered through age 18 in the winter/spring program and through age 14 in the summer program.
The teaching staff includes coaches from the local area, including some of the area’s top high school and college coaches, and an average session includes about 30 players with six or seven experienced and professionally trained coaches. The program features a low player-coach ratio, individual attention in a small-group atmosphere, and professional instruction to which young players do not normally have access. The summer program focuses on development in hitting, pitching, and fielding in a fun-filled environment, with morning sessions focused on hitting and defense and afternoon sessions focused on situational softball games, competition drills, and a Wiffle Ball World Series, with prizes for winners. All participants receive a t-shirt and a camp certificate, and the same proven itinerary of drills is used at each location.
