About
Camp Maria Retreat Center offers outdoor recreation that includes a boardwalk, a pier with canoe access, an outdoor altar, a firepit, a picnic table area, a swimming pool, basketball courts, volleyball courts, and a large field area. The program hosts Art Retreats, Music Programs and Retreats, Environmental Awareness Programs, a Health and Wellness Program, grief retreats, vets programs, recovery support retreats, programs for high-risk kids, Food Faith and Fellowship events, a Lenten Program Series, Camp Crazy Faith, and Summer Camps. It also offers Camp Creation, a Care for Creation environmental awareness camp for youth 7 to 14 years of age, along with overnight and day group retreats, conferences, private and small group retreats, and community programming.

Camp Maria Retreat Center is a ministry of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and follows a comprehensive ecological sustainability plan. Promoting and embracing eco-spirituality is an essential component of the retreat experience at Camp Maria Retreat Center, and the facilities are available to those who seek to strengthen and deepen their commitment to God, the Church, and to God’s people throughout the world. All buildings, not including the Osprey House, are wheelchair accessible. The mission of Camp Maria Retreat Center is to provide an atmosphere of prayer, hospitality, and simplicity in a peaceful, natural environment for retreats and various types of renewal programs, in the spirit and tradition of Catherine Spalding and St. Vincent de Paul, in collaboration with the Sisters of Charity, Nazareth KY.
The leadership team includes Director Greg Shedd; Associate Director Sister Chris Kunze, SCN; Administrative Assistant Theresa Peoples; Lead Cook/Housekeeper Lisa Dean; Maintenance Manager Al Butler; Maintenance staff Donald Holt and Jim Bradburn; Environmental Education and Sustainability Coordinator Darcy White; and Food Service staff Regina Pachas, Laura Chapman, Marian Barnes, Ryan Wathan, and Rebecca Carpenter. The Board of Directors includes Barbara Flores, SCN (Provincial, Western Province, Liaison); Chair Michael Harper; Vice Chair Mark Taylor; Secretary Christa Hayes; Director Greg Shedd; and members Patricia Buckler, SCN, ALiz Curtz, John Fenwick, Cathy Gibson, Sharon Johnsen, Teresa Kotturan, SCN, Theresa Laurel, Larry Stauffer, David Sushinsky, and Tom Trudell. Camp Maria Retreat Center supports the WARM Program, grief retreats, vets programs, recovery support retreats, and programs for high-risk kids, and it encourages community and ecumenical participation in the planning, organizing, and running of various programs, remaining open to all who search and promote unity among Christian churches.
