The Valley School uses a dynamic, play-based curriculum that includes educational games and activities, interactive lessons, finger plays, sensory activities, dance, and exercise games. Classrooms are media free, and teachers use these hands-on activities to engage children throughout the day. Children also participate in activities that focus on choices and positive reflection.

The Valley School opened its Middletown community location in 2014, with a second location in New Market opening in 2021. The program is fully accredited and holds a Level 5 Maryland EXCELS rating, which is the maximum rating and is only awarded to schools that have reached the highest level of quality. The school uses a Maryland State-approved curriculum that focuses on four learning domains: social-emotional, physical, language, and cognitive development, and includes a Pre-K early childhood education program.
Experienced, degreed Lead Teachers and other degreed teachers lead the classrooms, with Assistant Teachers and Aides supporting them, and staff receive continuing education and training. Degreed teachers develop individualized plans for learning so each child receives an educational experience that fits their specific developmental needs and learning style. Teachers engage students through interactive lessons and guide them through motor skill activities such as finger plays, sensory activities, dance, and exercise games.
The Valley School’s classrooms are media free and emphasize inspiring creativity and imagination. The program uses the Brightwheel app to manage attendance, billing, enrollment, parent communication, and important notifications like school closures, and families receive daily picture, video, or message updates from their child’s teacher through the app. The Middletown campus includes media free classrooms and an Imagination Playground™ innovative indoor and outdoor mobile play system, along with two on-site playgrounds. The New Market campus includes a full-size gymnasium and three separate playgrounds with a walking and bike path on site.
