Eco Adventures offers hands-on environmental education through activities such as private tours, school field trips, outreaches, scout sleepovers, marine biology excursions in the field, data collecting for turtles at Kinderfarm Park, and ECO-travel to Florida and Costa Rica. The program also runs camps, weekly classes, after-school programs, E-learning and virtual programs, Open Play, Jungle Express, Birthday parties, Earth Day Celebration events, scouting events, parties, and corporate events. Eco Adventures does not offer walk-in visits and also offers Private Feeding Frenzies tours and Outreach Programs.

Eco Adventures opened in 2013 and is a small family-owned facility. It is owned by Nat Geo herpetologist, television personality, and book author Dr. Brady Barr and his marine biologist wife, Mei Len Sanchez-Barr, who also serves as Executive Director. Owners and instructors are described as qualified environmental educators, a herpetologist, a marine biologist, animal keepers and trainers, and artists, some with advanced degrees. Dr. Brady Barr is a reptile specialist who served for over 20 years with National Geographic TV, is a book author, and serves as a scientific expert for the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. He received the NSTA Outstanding Science Trade Book award for “After a While...Crocodile” and the “Most Distinguished Alumni” award in 2017 from the College of Education at Indiana University, and he previously taught zoology, biology, and earth and life sciences at North Central High School in Indianapolis. Mei Len Sanchez-Barr is a marine biologist and educator with 32 years of experience in research and conservation education and has worked at The National Aquarium in Baltimore, the National Audubon Society, and Miami Seaquarium. She is the Aquarium and Zoo Association’s Crocodilian Advisory Group Education Liaison and a member of the Crocodilian Specialist Group, and she holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Marine Science from the University of Miami with graduate work at George Mason University in Conservation Education Administration.
Eco Adventures states that it provides a variety of hands-on conservation programs in hopes to inspire young conservationists and that part of its mission includes housing many rescued and misplaced animals. It offers weekly classes, after-school programs, camps, field trips, outreach programs, scouting events, and special programs that are led by scientists and educators. The facility houses over 100 native and exotic animals on display and as animal ambassadors, and many of these animals have been rescued or donated. Features of the facility include a simulated rainforest full of animal exhibits and a glowing volcano, an “Underwater Pier” discovery room, an outside sluice and fossil dig, and an outside field and classroom called Pixie Hollow that neighbors the Severn Run Wildlife Area. Eco Adventures also offers an Animal Sponsorship program with Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels, and gift certificates that can be used for camps, Jungle Express, E-learning, virtual programs, Birthday parties, and more. Gift certificates can be shipped for an extra $6 shipping and handling and can come in a jewelry bag with a small toy animal and brochures or by regular mail in an envelope at no charge. A Facility 360 Tour is available.
Eco Adventures reports that thousands of people have attended its programs and appearances at festivals and special events, including many at no charge or at a discount for causes such as homeless organizations, kids and families with cancer, families with hardships, Make a Wish Foundation, and SPCA. Each year at its “Earth Day Extravaganza,” Eco Adventures raises funds for different conservation organizations and projects and for camp scholarships. It contributes yearly to organizations such as the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, the Crocodilian Advisory Group, and WWF, and donates to numerous schools and organizations through in-kind donations for silent auctions. Eco Adventures has given out items such as trees for planting, recyclable bags, seed bombs, and other items to encourage conservation, and it involves students in helping others by collecting donations such as food, coats, and supplies for the homeless. It is involved with data collecting for turtles at Kinderfarm Park and involves students in this field research, as well as in ECO-travel to Florida and Costa Rica.
