Children's Center for Discovery, Inc. has been providing family style childcare in the community for over 25 years and was founded in 1985. The program uses a Discovery Curriculum with the theme “Let’s Play, Let’s Learn, Let’s Discover,” with group activities and discovery areas as a primary focus. Classrooms are described as environmentally rich and as a “Hands on Learning Environment,” and activities are designed through the concept of emphasizing the child as the “whole child.” Programs are offered for children from 6 weeks old to 12 years old, and there is a Kindergarten Readiness class for students who miss the Maryland State Department of Education age requirement of 5 by September 1st. CCFD provides daily communication reports for infants and toddlers that include meal time, nap times, toilet training, and activities, and holds Parent/Teacher conferences quarterly.
The director is named Bonnie. CCFD accepts NACCRRA, DSS Vouchers, and GSA, and is a Maryland Excels provider. The program offers Free Registration, Flex Funding, one free week, and Military Discounts.
One parent testimonial states that their daughter has attended daycare at the Children’s Center for Discovery for nearly two years, that the staff is pleasant, attentive, caring, knowledgeable, and informative, and that the summer camp is “packed full of adventures every day.” The same parent notes that the director, Bonnie, “knows exactly what she is doing and she does it well,” and that they “could not have hand-picked a better group of teachers” for their child.
