Lions Camp Merrick offers activities such as swimming, fishing, archery, arts and crafts, and nature walks. The program includes adaptations to these activities to meet each child’s unique needs, abilities, and interests, supported by experienced and trained staff members.

The mission of Lions Camp Merrick is to empower children, teens, and adults living with deafness, blindness, diabetes, or post-traumatic stress disorder through specialized programs that elevate their unique gifts and abilities in areas such as creative expression, education, and positive social interaction. The camp’s facilities are fully accessible, with accommodations that include accessible cabins, bathrooms, and dining facilities, and a dedicated medical staff is on-site to provide necessary medical care and support. Lions Camp Merrick is part of the Lions Clubs International network, and support from Lions Clubs and other donors allows the camp to provide its services at no cost to families. One camper, Grace Hatch, describes the camp as a safe place to be herself, learn, and embrace Type 1 diabetes, and shares that it is her favorite place to be.
