MSB Summer Programs

MSB Summer Programs includes outdoor adventure, teamwork, sports, and active recreation, along with daily independent living skills instruction. Participants take part in hands-on tech learning, learn foundational screen reader skills, and join tech skill-building activities for dual-media learners. The program also includes individualized planning and skill mapping and real-world work experience.

• Schedule: Sessions offered June 28 – July 3; July 6 – 30; July 8 – 10; July 13–14; July 17–18; July 20 – 25; July 22–23; July 24–26; July 27 – 30
• Price: Camp PuhTok cost to families: $500 (regular $900); Camp Abilities Mini cost to families: $150 (regular $500); Newbie Screen Reader Boot Camp cost to families: $100 (regular $550); Personal Tech Profile Bootcamp cost to families: $100 (regular $550); Independent Living & Work Experience (MISLE) cost to families: FREE; Family ECC & IEP Bootcamp cost: FREE

MSB Summer Programs takes place at venues that include Camp PuhTok, on-campus overnight options, and a Southern Maryland Day Program at the Calvert Public Library. The program is offered by The Maryland School for the Blind, which reports 170 years of blind and low vision education and states that its mission is to serve students with blindness or low vision of all abilities from birth through 21 throughout their educational journey. The Maryland School for the Blind reports serving 1,400+ students yearly in state and out-of-state, with 200+ on-campus students and 24 counties reached, and notes additional outreach and regional programs such as a Regional Day Program (location TBD), a Family ECC & IEP Bootcamp on campus, and the See Beyond Festival in partnership with the YMCA and other local community organizations.
