Club SciKidz Maryland STEM Camps & Programs is part of Club SciKidz, which was established in 1997, with its first summer camp called “Special Effects” teaching the science involved in Hollywood’s special effects techniques. Beginning in 2001, Camp Young Scientist was created to accommodate children ages 6–8, and there are now over 50 science camp themes offering projects and experiments for kids ages 4–15, with over 45 different camp programs planned for Summer 2026. Since 1997, more than 60,000 children have attended Club SciKidz science day camps and school programs, and Club SciKidz operates multiple summer day camp locations each year in Georgia, with franchises in Maryland, Kentucky, and Texas.
The leadership team for Club SciKidz Maryland STEM Camps & Programs includes founder Victor Bowman and owners and founders Bob and Sue Hagan. Bob and Sue Hagan have a combined 30 plus years of teaching experience and both hold a Master’s Degree in Education, and Victor Bowman earned his Master’s in Education and taught science for Baltimore County Public Schools for several years. For over ten years, Victor Bowman used his business experience and his passion for science and education to build Club SciKidz MD before retiring in December 2018.
Part of the stated mission of Club SciKidz Maryland is to nurture in children a life-long passion for inquiry and discovery, and its interactive programming serves to support STEM education in the state of Maryland. Science lessons are carefully researched by science educators with the help of teachers and children, and lessons engage students in observation, measurement, identification of properties, and experimentation involving life, earth, and physical science concepts. Club SciKidz MD offers year-round STEM programs, including summer camps, after school STEM programs, science assemblies, in-school field trips, and days off school or vacation break programs, and currently its after school programs are run through Howard County Rec & Parks. The organization states that it looks forward to working with families and communities to promote scientific and STEM literacy in the Baltimore area, and it describes Club SciKidz as the best place under the sun for extraordinary summers, with “The Big Day” of June 8, 2026 presented as a countdown to summer camp.
