Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center offers leadership and team-building activities, group challenges and problem-solving activities, summer day camps, early childhood programs, adventure therapy, athletic field rentals, team building leadership programming for youth and adults, and tours. The center includes early childhood programs called Little Roots for birth–3 and Seedlings for ages 3–5, as well as summer day camps for ages 4–15. Its experiential education programming uses nature-based education and outdoor exploration with a focus on teamwork, relationship building, and leadership, and operates an average of 274 programming days each year.

Since its start in 1981, Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center has marked milestones including a 40th anniversary celebration in the summer of 2021 and a 40th anniversary event on September 17, 2022. The organization’s mission is to provide quality learning experiences that promote growth and nourish the development of individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The leadership team includes founders Tom LaMonica and David Pines, and Executive Director Jane LaMonica. The center states a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, including respect for all individuals regardless of ability, age, cultural background, ethnicity, faith, gender, gender identity, ideology, income, national origin, race, or sexual orientation. One parent testimonial notes that “GV balances activities that are challenging yet age appropriate so that my child is building confidence and independence.” Genesee Valley is described as shaping the next generation of leaders, teams, and activists through nature-based education and outdoor exploration, and as a cornerstone for community engagement and environmental stewardship.
