The Delmarva Discovery Museum was conceived as a place where visitors could explore the rich history and natural world of the Delmarva peninsula, consisting of the Eastern Shores of Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia, and today it offers a variety of exhibits, public events, and educational programs for visitors of all ages. Through Delmarva Discovery Academy, each program invites children to learn about the local history, culture, and environment of Maryland's Eastern Shore, and the museum staff is dedicated to preserving the history of Delmarva and educating about the environment and the animals that live there. The museum leadership includes Todd (Executive Director), Taylor (Museum Curator), Terri and Chelsi (Lead Animal Technicians), Cass (Education & Outreach Coordinator), Amanda (Office Manager & Marketing), and a board led by Chairman Frederick Grant, Vice Chairman Susan Buckle Pusey, Secretary Wayne Outten, and Treasurer Jacqueline Gordon, along with several additional board members and Director Emeritus Bill Kerbin and Founder & Director Emeritus Barbara Tull. Visitors have described the museum as having lots of history about the area from the original inhabitants to modern day, an otter enclosure, uniquely creative displays and dioramas with a selection of fish and reptiles, and interactive elements and activities that they found good for kids, families, and school field trips.
