Sweet Potato Kids

Sweet Potato Kids offers a variety of hands-on activities, including nature walks, water play days, science experiments, and math experiments. The program also sends daily updates and photos to families, including information such as when a child uses the potty and what and how much the child ate.

• Schedule: Full-day Pre-School program and an all-day summer program for school-age children

Sweet Potato Kids operates as a high quality Pre-school and Extended Day interactive center and includes a Before/After Extended Day program with transportation provided. The program has 25 Years of Excellence and reports having served over 11,000 families. Its mission is to ignite a love for learning guided by compassionate curiosity, promote the advancement of equitable educational practices, and cultivate a happy, kind, and empathetic learning community for children and youth. Sweet Potato Kids is MSDE Accredited and is a proud recipient of the Maryland State Department of Education Pre-K Expansion Grant for 2026–2027, a competitive award given to high-quality providers serving families across Maryland, and as a grant-awarded program, Pre-K may be free for some families. The program notes that there are only a few spots left for its Cosmic Adventures Summer Camp and that it connects people and community. One parent reports having had two children attend Sweet Potato Kids, describes staff as communicating very well, mentions that the program “does so much with the kids” including nature walks, water play day, science experiments, and math experiments, and states being 100% satisfied with the care and the convenient hours for working parents.
