About
Shepherd's Spring Summer Camp includes camping activities such as hiking, caving, swimming, morning watch, and singing. The camp takes place at Shepherd's Spring, which is a retreat center, summer camp, and experiential learning program through its Global Village, with simple and comfortable facilities on 220 acres of nature. Shepherd's Spring offers Global Village programs and has an on-site Café Del Mundo.
Shepherd's Spring has been hosting guests since 1990. It was originally founded by the Mid-Atlantic District Church of the Brethren and the Outdoor Ministries Association (OMA) and is an independent, 501-c-3 non-profit organization. The mission of Shepherd's Spring is: “At Shepherd's Spring we shall seek to engage the world with the reality of the risen Jesus so as to inspire hope and cultivate lifelong learning.” Retreat contacts include Hannah Smith for retreats and Kaite Anderson for the Global Village program.
One parent, Glenna M., describes favorite memories at Shepherd's Spring as attending Grand Camp with each grandchild over nine years and doing activities such as hiking, caving, swimming, morning watch, and singing. Another former camper, Andrew P. Grossnickle, recalls being a camper during the first year the camp opened and camping in tents before the cabins were complete. Pastor Calvin reports leading two retreats at Shepherd's Spring between November 2016 and January 2017 and notes comfortable sleeping arrangements, a warm and inviting gathering space, and meals described as scrumptious.
