SMSA Summer Camp offers summer camp sessions that include sports, racing, cruising, junior sail training, and education, along with social activities. The program also provides access to Sit on Top Kayaks and Stand up Paddle boards as part of its activities.

SMSA Summer Camp is part of a member-run social club that offers comprehensive racing, cruising, junior and adult sail training, education, and social activities on-shore and on the water. SMSA was founded in 1972 as a member-run social club, with a letter of invitation dated October 15, 1971, and was formally launched at Placid Harbor Yacht Club on March 18, 1972. SMSA offers activities for its members and the community and is described as ideally located near some of the finest cruising waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
The organization’s leadership includes Commodore Russell Miller (Commodore), Randy Gross (Vice Commodore), Shane Myers (Rear Commodore), Kristi Yurko (Treasurer), and Nicole Foveaux (Secretary). Directors are Steve Birchfield, Polly Traynham, Elliott Peterson, Harry Keith, Clarke McKinney, and Jimmy Yurko. Program Chairs include Johna Johnson (Summer Camp), Tom Moulds and Larry Ray (Keelboat Race co-chairs), Bill Shoemaker (Smallboat Race), Phil Sibley (Cruise), Paige Smith (Social), Jolie Homsher (Facility), Mark Witte (Dockmaster), Tim Flaherty (Communications), Jimmy Yurko (Adult Learn to Sail), Steve Birchfield (The Patuxent Pursuit), and Rebecca Wingate (High School).
