Nature Nurtures Summer Camp is part of Maine Coast Waldorf School, which was founded in 1984 and serves students from infant and toddler play programs through high school. Nature Nurtures Camp is led by Janet Rae Jorgensen, with support from Early Childhood staff; June sessions are led by Janet Rae Jorgensen and Zachary Mitchell-Kemp, and July and August sessions are led by Zach Mitchell-Kemp, Anne-Marie Ortiz, and Donna Naylor. Janet Rae brings over 20 years of professional experience working with children, including owning and operating an outdoor nature camp called Twigs in Marin County, directing a farm camp called KukuRiku in Petaluma, teaching children in gardens, forests, and mountains, leading professional development workshops for teachers, and serving as adjunct faculty in child development at Santa Rosa Junior College; she holds an undergraduate degree in Theatre from Ohio University and a graduate degree in Early Childhood Education from Mills College in Oakland, California. Zachary is an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher at Maine Coast Waldorf School.

Maine Coast Waldorf School states that it strives to provide a comprehensive and nurturing education that is grounded in a living Waldorf curriculum and brought to life through inspired faculty, an engaged and diverse community, and the seasonal rhythms of Maine. The school is a fully accredited member of the New England Association of Schools & Colleges, the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America, and the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America, and it provides experiential learning for early childhood through grade 12, grounded in place-based learning on a 75-acre campus and the landscapes of coastal Maine. The school states that it is situated on the stolen homeland of the Wabanaki Nation and describes itself as an institution dedicated to learning, diversity, and community, with a responsibility to educate itself and the community in truth; its First Nations Reconciliation Tuition Program offers a tuition-free Waldorf education, inclusive of any and all fees related to enrollment or school-sponsored offerings, to eligible students from territories now known as the United States, Canada, and Mexico. One student testimonial describes attending Maine Coast Waldorf as the best decision the student made, noting kindness from everyone, an emphasis on personal challenge, an open-minded learning environment, and contact with people the student describes as some of the kindest they have met.

The program states that space is limited to maintain a gentle, unhurried environment. Participants with any severe allergies or medical issues requiring medication must submit a separate Permission & Release: Administration of Medication form, the program requires that children are fully toilet trained, and parents are asked whether staff need to re-apply sunscreen and to authorize re-application if necessary.
