Portland Area Youth Soccer Association (PAYSA) Soccer Programs includes the Recreational Fall Soccer Program, U6 Minis, U8, U10, U12, and Travel Soccer. Activities listed include Saturday morning clinics, weekday practices, weekend games, weekend 5v5 games, weekend 7v7 games, playful games, basic soccer skills, game basics, ball handling, ball control, positions, and team play.

Programs

• Recreational Fall Soccer Program — 4-11 · Saturday morning clinics; one weekday practice + one weekend game; one weekday practice + one weekend 5v5 game; one to two weekday practices + one weekend 7v7 game · Open to all players regardless of skill or experience. No standings or rankings. Teams are formed after registration closes, based on player signups and the availability of volunteer coaches.
• U6 Minis — 4-5, Pre-K + Kindergarten · Saturday morning clinics · Playful games and basic soccer skills. The perfect first soccer experience.
• U8 — Grades 1 & 2 · One weekday practice + one weekend game · Game basics, ball handling, and having fun.
• U10 — Grades 3 & 4 · One weekday practice + one weekend 5v5 game · Players build ball control, positions, and team play.
• U12 — Grades 5 & 6 · One to two weekday practices + one weekend 7v7 game · Emphasis on skill building and advanced team play.
• Travel Soccer — 8-13 · 2 practices, 1 game/week + 2 tournaments, starting late August

About the provider

PAYSA revised its Bylaws on November 12, 2018. The organization serves over 1,000 local kids each year, is a volunteer organization, and has scholarships available so children interested in soccer can play. PAYSA emphasizes skill development and team play, and says its programs foster a love of the game so soccer can be a lifelong source of enjoyment for players.

PAYSA does not keep standings or track statistics. Recreational soccer has no standings or rankings. Travel teams begin practices in mid-August with league play starting late August. U9-U11 travel teams are designated as noncompetitive; scores are not formally kept and standings are not maintained. U12-U14 travel teams are competitive and scores and standings are tracked for seeding in the state championship tournament. Players unable to attend tryouts will be placed in a player pool. Financial assistance is available.
