Cranbrook Institute of Science Programs include field trips, group visits, public planetarium programs in the Acheson Planetarium, and immersive astronomy experiences at the Cranbrook Observatory. The programs also offer overnight and evening programming such as Space Science Overnight, birthday parties, museum rentals, volunteer opportunities, and special events and public programs like Discovery Days: Science of Food, Ignite Your Curiosity, Jupiter January, and the Free Virtual Lecture Series for Members. Visitors can explore interactive experiences such as exploreLAB Fossils, Dinosaurs, & Bugs and the Permian Monsters: Life before the Dinosaurs exhibit, as well as lectures and talks and a speaker series.
• Schedule: Museum hours run Wednesday–Saturday with additional evening hours on the 1st and 3rd Friday, and Sunday daytime hours, with featured events and public planetarium programs scheduled on specific days and times.
• Price: $5 Fridays After Five, free admission on the First Friday of each month through December 2026, and general admission is free for all members.

The Permian Monsters: Life before the Dinosaurs exhibit runs from September 28, 2025, through January 7, 2026. Visitors can stand beneath a T.rex, feel a mastodon’s fur, and touch a meteorite.

Courtesy of the MASCO Corporation, visitors receive free admission on the First Friday of each month through December 2026, and community centers, schools, clubs, and seniors groups can contact the Institute for expert speakers or to bring their group for a field trip.
