The Fowler Center for Outdoor Learning offers Summer Overnight Camp, Summer Day Camp, Travel Adventures, Equestrian Programs, Weekend Respite Camps, Community Events, and Group Events. It also offers Camp Barefoot (TBI), Spring Session, and Winter Session for adults age 18+; Camp Barefoot includes outdoor adventure, friends, and fun, while Spring Session includes fishing, nature activities, boating, horse riding, small animals, crafts, and hayrides. Winter Session includes sledding, crafts, cocoa by the fire, and a New Year’s Party.

About the provider

Since 1992, The Fowler Center has offered a week-long camp session for adults living with traumatic brain injuries. Its mission is to empower independence and personal growth through barrier-free outdoor learning and fun. The program is licensed by the State of Michigan and accredited by the American Camp Association. Each year, individuals and groups volunteer time and talents, and volunteers also join Camp Barefoot to help lead programs and interact with campers on a daily basis.

Emphasis is placed on the ability of each camper to participate according to physical, cognitive, and psychological abilities. A concerted effort is made to remove possible barriers and create a secure, positive, and reinforcing environment. Camp Barefoot is over Memorial Day Weekend every year from Saturday through Thursday. Seasonal Camps check-in is 2:00 PM-5:00 PM and check-out is 10:00 AM-11:30 AM.
