Center Stage Dance Company

Center Stage Dance Company offers beginner dance classes, traditional dance classes, and advanced dance training. Classes include ballet and tap basics, ballet and tap combination classes, ballet, pre-pointe and pointe, tap, jazz, hip hop, and adult tap fitness and adult ballet fitness classes.

Programs

• Beginner Dance Classes — 3-7 · Combo classes for preschool and early elementary students; introduce ballet and tap basics. Includes ages 3-5, 4-6, and 6-7 class groupings.
• Traditional Dance Classes — 6+ · Variety of dance techniques for elementary, middle school and high school-aged students, ranging from beginner through advanced. Boys and girls. Performance opportunities throughout the year.
• Advanced Dance Training Program — 8+ with proven skill level · More intensive instruction and advanced technical development. Competition opportunities are available for dancers who choose that path.
• Adult Dance Classes — Adult tap fitness and adult ballet fitness classes.
• Preschool Ballet & Tap Combo Classes — 3-5 · Combination of ballet and tap technique with emphasis on listening, coordination, and gross motor skill development.
• Kids Dance Classes (Ballet & Tap Combo) — 4-7 · Beginning dance students are introduced to a combination of ballet and tap technique with continued emphasis on listening, coordination, and gross motor skill development.
• Combo 6-7 Ballet/Tap Class with introduction to other techniques — 6-7 · Ballet and tap basics and their relationship with the music are the focus; introduction to jazz, hip hop and contemporary.
• Ballet — 7+ · Classic Russian syllabus; barre, center, and across the floor exercises.
• Pre-Pointe/Pointe — 8+ · Advanced level of ballet; students are assessed for readiness. All students must be enrolled in a ballet technique class to participate.
• Tap — Classic and rhythm styles are taught.
• Jazz — 8+ · Jazz technique classes; dancers should expect to train in a particular level for a minimum period of two years.
• Hip Hop — 5-8; 9+ · Hip Hoppers ages 5-8; Junior Hip Hop ages 9+.

About the provider

Center Stage Dance Company has been operating since 1988. Its mission is to teach dance for physical, emotional, and mental development, self-esteem and confidence building, and the joy of movement to music. The program also offers seasonal tours, special events, a competitive TEAM, annual recitals, Northville Parks & Recreation classes, and community outreach through tours, special events, and charitable causes.

Students must be of qualifying age by December 1 for classes described on the program pages. Northville Parks & Recreation classes require qualifying age by first class. Enrollment for performance classes is accepted through January. Dancers should expect to remain at a level for a minimum of 2 years. Join any time for Tween & Teen 12-week Non-Performance Classes.
