Each class includes an educational science-themed take-home that is relevant to what participants learned that day. The organization offers an introductory STEM program that explores forensics, geology, meteorology, entomology, and mechanical engineering, as well as stage shows and fun stations for special events and assemblies and Girl Scout Badge workshops to earn Science and STEM Badges through hands-on science activities. Mad Science was founded in 1985 in Montreal, Canada. Its stated mission is to inspire children through science, sparking lifelong imagination and curiosity. Mad Science offers programs compatible with ESSR, EANS, and other funds that aim to help students bounce back from the effects the COVID-19 pandemic has had on their learning.
Parents have shared that their children talk about science facts and experiments after class and use the kits they bring home, and some note that their children have attended Mad Science after-school programs every year starting from kindergarten. One parent who is a high school science teacher states that they appreciate that Mad Science gives these opportunities for young kids.
