Blooming Prairie Youth Club offers one-on-one homework help, hands-on learning experiences, and a variety of recreational activities and opportunities. The program also includes field trips and community involvement opportunities for participants. Blooming Prairie Youth Club is described as a fun, safe place for all school aged kids.

• Schedule: School-year care before and after school Monday–Friday, and full-day care Monday–Friday during the summer

Blooming Prairie Youth Club operates during the school year from Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and during the summer from Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The program offers care before and after school, on no school days, and all-day care during the summer months. During the school year, free bus transportation is available in the morning and afternoon, and before- and after-school snacks are provided. During the summer months, breakfast, lunch, and a snack are provided, and the program includes a summer pool membership.

All staff are certified or trained as Mandated Reporters through Darkness to Light, are CPR AED and First Aid Certified, and have training in Food Safety, Youth Development Training, and bullying prevention. The leadership team includes Dina Ott (Lead Youth Development Professional), Jaylee Schleicher (Youth Development Professional), Pam Lujan (Lead Youth Development Professional), Alicia Ptacek (Interim Club Director), Hailey Schumacher (Youth Development Professional), Mikayla Martinez (Youth Development Professional), Kara Decker (Youth Development Professional), and Sienna Fyksen (Youth Development Professional). The organization has been serving Blooming Prairie for over 20 years. Its stated mission is to provide quality educational and recreational opportunities to empower youth for their future.

Blooming Prairie Youth Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and a United Way of Steele County Agency Partner. Parent testimonials describe appreciation for the staff’s support during COVID, note that children enjoy their time at the club and do not want to leave, and describe the club as providing a safe, friendly, and educational environment that has been an asset to their kids and the community. One parent reports that their children were able to go to a safe place that provided friendships, fun, and learning opportunities, and that homework such as spelling and reading became part of their child’s daily routine with the help of the club.
