• Ages: 3–18 years old

KrAz Dance was founded by Kelsey Thiele in 2019. After meeting her husband Nick Thiele in 2017, she moved to Wahpeton, North Dakota. Kelsey has years of training as a professional dancer, performer, teacher and choreographer, and she has choreographed floor routines for the gymnastics program in town.

KrAz Dance is dedicated to nurturing the passion and creativity of dancers of all ages and skill levels. The studio offers two level programs for competitive and non-competitive dancers, and a recreational program that is open to all ages and all levels. KrAz Dance also offers Darby’s Dancers, a program for individuals with special needs. The name KrAz (pronounced “craze”) comes from Kelsey being told she was a little “crazy,” and the K and the A in the logo title are accented for her first name Kelsey and middle name Ann. The annual Spring Recital is held the second weekend of May at the NDSCS Cultural Center.

KrAz Dance has done many different activities in the community, including appearing in parades with dancers behind their float, performing and bowling with residents at the Leach Home, ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, creating and donating gifts to a family in need through the Richland Wilkin Kinship, holding a BINGO event in the fall to support competition students, choreographing floor routines for the local gymnastics program, and making guest appearances at schools and daycares to hold mini classes for students.

KrAz Dance competition students took home two Best of Show awards and KrAz Dance received the Top Studio Award at Masquerade Dance Competition in Grand Forks. KrAz Dance has won many choreography awards, special judges awards and 1st overalls at multiple competitions, and in 2022 they took home the National Grand Championship Award for their Junior Hip Hop routine.

Parents describe KrAz Dance as welcoming, organized, and positive for their children. One parent, Mindi Bruce, notes that her three children adore their teachers and that beginners and more experienced dancers both learn a lot. Another parent, Cassie Webster, shares that her daughters have danced at KrAz for five years and that her older daughter feels challenged and supported in her passion for dance. Emily Ward explains that her daughter enjoys the non-competitive program, especially ballet, tap, and jazz, and that the program coordination is very organized and informative. Natasha Presgrove states that the choreography challenges dancers to reach their potential and that joining the studio has been a rewarding choice for her daughters. Jessica Mayes describes KrAz Dance as a program that teaches actual dance techniques and says that both her older competition student and younger recreational dancer love their classes.
