Cambridge Lutheran Church Kids & Summer Programs include Music Adventure Camp, Vacation Bible School, KidZone and Outdoor KidZone, Storytime Under The Tree, Bible study, crafts, games, worship, American Sign Language learning with 13 different signs to retell the story of Jesus, parachute fun, circle time, playtime, snack, and the LOGOS midweek program with a shared meal. Music Adventure Camp includes singing at worship on June 25. Specific story sessions used with kids include “The Very Best Story ever told, The Gospel With American Sign Language” by Robin Currie, “THE LOST LAMB” by Melody Carlson, “TWITCH AND THE INVISIBLE WIND” by Thomas and Julie Boto, and “HAL AND THE VERY LONG RACE” by Lucy Bell.

Music Adventure Camp for grades 2–6 is scheduled for June 13–15 and June 20–22 from 9:30 AM to noon. Vacation Bible School runs August 7–10 from 9 AM to 11 AM for age 3 through grade 5, and VBS 2025 for ages 4 years old through completed grade 5 runs Monday, June 16 through Thursday, June 19 from 9 AM to noon, with a Regular Extended Day option from noon to 3 PM for completed grades 1–5 and a Play Inc. Extended Day that includes transportation to Cambridge Middle School after lunch for children enrolled in the Play Inc. Arts program. LOGOS for 4th–6th graders meets Wednesdays after school until 6:30 PM from October through March and includes Bible teaching, worship, games, and a shared meal. Frolic for birth through preschool plus an adult meets Thursdays from 9–10:30 AM, follows the Cambridge/Isanti school calendar, and includes playtime, snack, parachute fun, and circle time, while adults socialize over coffee.
KidZone runs during the 9:30 AM contemporary Sunday worship service and is described as a fun, safe, and engaging environment with age-specific spaces: age 3–kindergarten in the Sonshine Room, grades 1–3 in the KZ Studio, and grades 4–5 in the Ignite Room, with a staffed nursery available for children age 3 and under. During the summer 9:30 service, kids experience KidZone, where they learn from the Bible, build friendships, and discover who Jesus is in a way kids can understand, and parents receive simple, practical ideas to connect with kids and carry what they are learning into everyday family life. KidZone space is secure while kids are downstairs, with check-in and check-out procedures in place, and Outdoor KidZone uses check-in and check-out with volunteers in orange KZ shirts holding clipboards.
KZ kids learn to tell the story of Jesus using American Sign Language taught by American Sign Language Teacher Amy Williams, using 13 different signs. The program’s leadership team includes Senior Pastor Andy Romstad; Children, Youth & Family Director Kate Roettger, who is pursuing a Master of Divinity at Luther Seminary; Operations staff member and Finance Manager Mary Chapman; Director of Stewardship Kimberly Polzin; Pianist Shirley Geib; Horizon Worship Team leader Steve Danz; Organist Michelle Trunk, who has served as an organist in Princeton and North Branch and works in the North Branch school district; Sanctuary Choir Director and Play Inc. leader Aaron Knudsvig, who leads a local theater company for young people and teaches locally; Hospitality Director/Food & Kitchen lead LaVaye Galbreth; Director of Serving Kathy Maltrud; Assistant Finance Manager Jenna Wigren, who has project management experience; Visitation Ministers Arne Everson and Earl Pike; and Communications & Youth Admin Gail Downing.
Cambridge Lutheran Church was founded in 1864 as the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church, celebrated 150 years as a congregation in 2014, and has been part of the ELCA since 1988 after previously being part of the Lutheran Church in America. The church’s mission statement is “Connecting People to Christ, the Source of Life,” and it states, “We believe Jesus changes lives and transforms communities for the better,” and, “Our goal is to come alongside you with the support, connection, and tools you need to lead your family in faith, without adding more to your plate. We help make following Jesus part of your everyday rhythm at home.” VBS 2025 is described as four action-packed days where kids discover God’s boundless love, explore how faith can move mountains, and learn how to reflect God’s love in all they do, and it includes worship, Bible study, crafts, games, and energetic counselors from Green Lake Bible Camp. The church offers two different styles of worship: contemporary worship in the Commons described as “modern” and “high energy,” and worship in the sanctuary described as “classic” and “familiar,” and it seeks to offer God’s light to the community and the world, including starting many other sister churches in the area.
