Camp Kamaji for Girls has been shaping young lives for over a century. It is an all-girls, technology-free sleepaway summer camp where campers are encouraged to come without knowing anyone else, to try activities they have never done before, and to step outside of their comfort zone. Campers join a tribe represented by a color in their first summer and return to that same tribe every year, and campers are recognized for their individual accomplishments and efforts while the camp community rallies around them to celebrate their courage in a safe, encouraging, supportive, and fun environment.

Camp Kamaji is run by co-owners Kat Martin and Jason Nelson, who together direct Camp Kamaji for Girls; Kat is a Kamaji alumna and former Kamaji camper, and the camp is family-run by Kat and Jason. The camp’s mission is to provide a secure and joyful learning space where girls can cultivate lifelong skills and values, and to be a safe, happy, fun-filled place for campers to unplug, try new activities, learn new skills, be silly and goofy, develop a true sense of self, be deliriously happy, and make strong friendships with campers and staff. Camp Kamaji is pleased to partner with unspecified partners.

Parent and participant feedback includes comments such as “yes. very good.” from Audrey Fox and “I have always been impressed with the level of intentionality and care that Kamaji shows their campers!” from Travis Allison. Another parent, Katie Fox, described the setting on 140+ wooded acres along Wolf Lake as beautiful, highlighted activities including sailing, water skiing, tubing, fishing, paddle boarding, canoeing, rock climbing, tennis, hiking, archery, crafts, and capture the flag, and noted the opportunity to strengthen existing and make new friendships, as well as the effort owners Kat and Jason put into making Camp Kamaji the best experience for those who attend.
