About

Hoops Training offers basketball specific skill development that includes professional instruction on basketball fundamentals such as shooting form, ball-handling, finishing, and rebounding. Participants work on advanced offensive and defensive moves through options like private lessons, small group training, summer camps, spring/summer teams, a Fall League, a Spring/Summer Club Teams program, a holiday clinic, and specialized Shooting and Skills Camps. Coach Andrew can also conduct a Shooting or Skills Camp at a family’s own gym.

The objective of Hoops Training is to give young athletes who want to bring their game to a new level professional instruction on basic basketball fundamentals and advanced offensive and defensive moves. Hoops Training is a basketball specific skill development program that specializes in developing skilled and confident athletes of all ages in a challenging and positive environment, with programs offered year-round and opportunities to compete in Fall League and Spring/Summer Club Teams. Hoops Training started in the summer of 2009.

Hoops Training is led by Andrew Dahl, who is the Owner and Lead Trainer and also serves as the Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach for the Lester Prairie Bulldogs. His basketball career began at Lakeview High School in Cottonwood, MN, where he earned All-Conference and All-Area Honors as part of the Class of 2000, and he later played at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN before a stress fracture ended his playing career. From 2005 to 2009 he worked as an instructor and coach for a Twin Cities-based basketball company before starting Hoops Training in 2009.

Parents have shared that “Coach Andrew did a great job working with my son” and that their child “was able to improve on some of the skills that he was struggling with,” and they “would strongly recommend coach Andrew.” Another parent said their high school daughter “really enjoyed her 1st session with Andrew,” found him engaging, and felt he gave “very specific constructive feedback,” and they are “signed up for more with Andrew” and “would recommend him highly.” A third parent described Coach Andrew as “fantastic,” said he “really knows how to connect with kids,” keeps the athlete engaged the entire time, and that his “knowledge of basketball is vast” and his “techniques are very effective,” adding that they are “extremely glad” they found him.
