About
Crystal Recreation Department Programs include events and activities such as the Crystal Frolics annual celebration, a softball tournament, live music, inflatables, a Kidsdance DJ, food vendors, the Crystal Farmer's Market, and Water Fun Day. The program offers three ways to register: online, in person, and by mail, and all online registration participants need to have a family account established with the recreation department.
• Schedule: In-person registration staff are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., with registration dates of March 2, 2026 for Spring/Summer, August 17, 2026 for Fall, and November 9, 2026 for Winter.
The city's mission is to improve and promote the quality of life for all Crystal citizens and provide municipal services in a cost-effective, innovative, and professional manner. Crystal Frolics is an annual celebration in the city, and Crystal's annual Night to Unite is an event where neighbors gather to celebrate and strengthen neighborhoods and community partnerships. Crystal is a fully-developed, first tier suburban community just west of Minneapolis in Hennepin County, with amenities that include the Crystal Cove Aquatic Center, Crystal Community Center, parks and trails, a variety of programs and services for all ages, well-groomed sports fields, and the redeveloped Crystal Shopping Center. The recreation program needs assessment survey is designed to gather feedback from community members of all ages about recreation programs, barriers to participation, and ideas for new opportunities, and it takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. The city became a Home Rule Charter City in 1960, with the City Charter adopted on August 23, 1960, and the Village of Crystal’s first city hall built in 1891. Crystal's official newspaper for legal notices is the Crystal-Robbinsdale SunPost, and legal notices are published each Thursday.
