About
Heartland Hockey Camp offers one week of ice hockey and roller hockey on a full-sized roller rink, along with tennis, mini-golf, waterfront activities, and an open hockey session. Campers also take part in the Heartland Mile, bonfires, fitness center workouts, and weight-room training during this one-week session of “unbelievable fun.”
• Schedule: One-week sessions
Heartland Hockey Camp was established in 1985 by Steve and Sandy Jensen and has been inspiring hockey players worldwide for over 40 years, offering its 39th summer season of hockey camps. The camp is inspired by the late Steve Jensen, a former US Olympian and NHL player with the Minnesota North Stars and the Los Angeles Kings, and is now owned and operated by Sandra Jensen. The program features a world-class coaching staff with top tier coaches who have decades of experience, many of whom have achieved success as former players, current players, and coaches. Heartland Hockey Camp states a mission of providing world class hockey instruction and a wide variety of waterfront activities for hockey players worldwide while enhancing the spiritual well-being and emotional growth of each camper, with an experience designed to help children mature socially, grow emotionally, expand intellectually, and soar spiritually.
The camp highlights a highly regarded 6:1 campers-to-coaches on-ice ratio, five mandatory training sessions each day, four levels of youth hockey camps, and a camp for goalies. It also notes a newly constructed off-ice training center with 4,464 square feet of workout area, and that the facility is reserved strictly for camp clientele, with close proximity between the ice arena, dorms, dining room, weight room, and condos in a tranquil setting. Heartland Hockey Camp describes itself as the leading hockey camp in North America, North America’s Best Hockey Camp, and Minnesota’s Best Hockey Camp.
Testimonials describe Heartland Hockey Camp as a place “where elite hockey meets fun” and mention growth both as a player and as a person, as well as traditions of returning year after year. Parents and coaches note experiences such as fathers skating with their sons for seven days, staying in dorms together, and sharing time at the rink, fitness center, lake, bonfire, and running the Heartland Mile. Longtime coaching staff describe over two decades at the camp, family memories on and off the ice, and observing how the camp has expanded and added new experiences over the years.
