Hope Shores Bible Camp + Retreat Center

Hope Shores Bible Camp + Retreat Center offers activities that include Penguins in the morning, Vespers at night, and worship. Youth camps are week-long camps for students who have completed grades 2–12 and include these activities as part of the camp experience.

• Ages: 7–18 years old
• Schedule: Week-long overnight youth camps for completed grades 2–12, plus various family camps and a college-age camp during summer 2026
• Price: Youth camps $475 for 5 nights (includes lodging, meals, camp t-shirt, canteen). Family Camp: Ages 0–3 free; Ages 4–11 $115; Ages 12+ $150; Family Max $600 (includes up to two adults 21+; additional adults 21+ $125). Single Moms Family Camp $220; a $50 deposit holds a family spot.

The summer 2026 schedule includes a College Age Camp June 7–9, a Young Kids Family Camp June 11–13, 2nd–5th Grade Week 1 June 14–19, 2nd–5th Grade Week 2 June 21–26, Weekend Family Camp 1 June 26–28, Single Moms Family Camp July 9–12, 6th–8th Grade Week July 12–17, Monday–Wednesday Family Camp July 20–22, Thursday–Saturday Family Camp July 23–25, 9th–12th Grade Week July 26–31, Weekend Family Camp 2 July 31–August 2, and Camp Sunday on August 9. Youth camps have drop-off from 2:00–2:30 pm at Hope Church on Sunday and pick-up at 3:30 pm at Hope Church on Friday. Single Moms Family Camp arrival is 6:00–7:00 pm on Thursday night after dinner, with departure from Hope Shores between 1:30–2:30 pm on Sunday.

Hope Shores Bible Camp + Retreat Center is open between May and October and is available for rental with a capacity of 120. Family camps include meals in a modern dining facility overlooking Rice Lake and 2 nights of lodging in cabins with bunk beds and a separate bathhouse. Single Moms Family Camp includes meals and 3 nights of lodging, with families sharing a cabin with another family, some partitions available for privacy, and modern bathroom facilities with sinks and showers in a nearby building. Scholarships are available for overnight youth camps and are only available for overnight youth camps. A CIT program is open to current 9th–12th graders. Helpful information such as packing lists and a Physical Exam Form is provided for youth camps, and Family Camp links include arrival and departure times, packing lists, and other details; for Single Moms Family Camp, families with children too small for a bunk bed are asked to bring a pack-n-play.

The director, Greta Schutte, serves as Hope Shores Camp Director. She has a clinical doctorate in Athletic Training, has worked with college students for 18 years as an Athletic Trainer, and has eight years of ministry experience with children and youth. The college-aged staff is described as deeply committed to Jesus Christ, to young people, and to having fun.

Hope Church, which is connected to the camp, was founded in 1954 in the heart of Richfield, Minnesota. The mission statement for Hope Shores says that it is a place where anyone can have fun and everyone is part of the family, that everything done there is centered on Jesus and His transforming hope, and that intimate relationships are built with each other because that is how growth happens. The mission statement also says there is a lot to be learned in silly times together, that there is no pressure to impress or perform, that family camps are a vacation with a purpose, and that camp is a place outside of life’s mainstream where people are invited to come rest and be strengthened in faith and family life.

Hope Shores Bible Camp + Retreat Center holds an annual Hope Shores Gala that celebrates and supports its camping ministry. The 10th annual Hope Shores Gala includes a social hour with camp appetizers, an Italian dinner, meaningful testimonies, Hall of Faith inductions, and the revealing of themes and staff for the coming summer, and this year Pastor David Lenz and Cynthia Lenz will be inducted into the Hall of Faith.
