Jam the Gym features basketball action including slam dunks, all-star games, three-point contests, and participation by dunk teams. The event also includes gymnastics, dance performances, a raffle, and a silent auction. NBA mascots, local celebrity athletes, and senior boys and girls basketball players from area schools take part, and full concessions and limited edition Tim Orth Memorial Foundation event t-shirts are available for purchase.

Jam the Gym takes place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, with doors opening at 3:00 PM and an opening ceremony at 4:30 PM. Raffle tickets for a cash prize can be purchased ahead of time or on the night of the event, and raffle tickets are also sold at the Winthrop Jam the Gym event. Silent auction items include signed sports memorabilia and products and services from local businesses, and all the funds raised go back to the kids.
Jam the Gym is a fundraising event of the Tim Orth Memorial Foundation, which is a 501c3 non-profit all-volunteer organization. The Tim Orth Memorial Foundation’s mission is to assist, financially or otherwise, children from birth to age 18 in the West Central Minnesota area who are facing substantial medical expenses from a serious accident or illness. The foundation assists West Central Minnesota families through annual Jam the Gym events in Hector, Glencoe, and Winthrop, along with other fundraising events and donations from businesses and individuals. Jam the Gym originated in Bird Island, Minnesota, in 1996.
