About
Ney Nature Center Camps include interactive nature hikes, fun and educational science experiments, creative arts and crafts projects, and team-building games and activities. Campers take part in shelter building, fire building, exploring local ecosystems, wildlife observation, snacks, crafts, games, swimming, kayaking, cookouts, fishing off the dock, canoeing, exploring Cedar Lake Farm, wagon rides, pond wildlife observation, and trekking through oak savannah. Additional activities include Kerfoot’s 14-line zipline canopy tour, kayaking Lake Washington, an overnight hammocking experience in Outdoor Adventure III, map making, using compasses, using GPS, using celestial bodies for navigation, puzzles and challenges, hammocking, hiking, exploration, cooking a meal over a campfire, Kerfoot’s 4-story high ropes course, meeting animal ambassadors, exploring diverse habitats, games, art, and hands-on activities related to wildlife, archery, using atlatls, time period role-play and experiences at the historic Ney homestead, and mountain biking on singletrack trail.

• Schedule: Full-day camps run 9:00am–4:00pm, and half-day camps run 9:00am–11:30am
Ney Nature Center Camps are led by experienced educators. The Ney Nature Center manages and protects the Ney Wildlife Preserve through education and interaction with the natural world. Ney Nature Center is a Le Sueur County Park. Camps use two weekly camp groups with two different themes and age groups, with age splits of 4–5 years old, 6–8 years old, 9–11 years old, and 12–14 years old. Some camps are fully offsite at Cedar Lake Farm in New Prague. Spots are limited and a waiting list is available via email, and scholarships are provided for families that qualify. Members-only registration opens January 14th, and general public registration opens January 25th at 9:00am. While using the mountain bike trails, families are asked to follow Leave No Trace guidelines, including checking with the Nature Center office for up-to-date trail information, staying on established trails, using restrooms at the main parking area, packing out waste, checking for and removing seeds from bikes, clothing, and equipment, washing bikes between rides, not riding on hiking trails at the main property, and respecting other users.
