About
Ney Nature Center Camps include activities such as interactive nature hikes, science experiments, creative arts and crafts projects, team-building games and activities, shelter building, fire building, exploring local ecosystems, and wildlife observation. Camp days can also include snacks, crafts, games, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, fishing off the dock, cookouts, wagon rides, pond wildlife observation, trekking through oak savannah, mountain biking, and meeting animal ambassadors. Some sessions feature map making, using compasses, using GPS, using celestial bodies for navigation, hammocking, hiking, cooking a meal over a campfire, archery, using atlatls, time-period themed hands-on activities, creating items to launch, games related to wildlife, art related to wildlife, and other hands-on activities related to wildlife.

• Schedule: Full-day camps run 9am–4pm, and half-day camps run 9am–11:30am.
Ney Nature Center Camps are led by experienced educators. The camps include programs tailored to various age groups, with age splits of 4–5 years old, 6–8 years old, 9–11 years old, and 12–14 years old, and two weekly camp groups with two different themes and age groups. Lakeside Adventure camps are fully offsite at Cedar Lake Farm in New Prague, and some sessions include activities at Kerfoot’s 14-line zipline canopy tour, Kerfoot’s 4-story high ropes course, and kayaking on Lake Washington, as well as an Outdoor Adventure III option that includes an overnight hammocking experience. Ney Nature Center Camps use mountain bike trails that are rated beginner to intermediate, and these trails are open to the public.
Ney Nature Center manages and protects the Ney Wildlife Preserve through education and interaction with the natural world. Ney Nature Center is a Le Sueur County park and is nestled amidst 446 acres of nature preserve with miles of scenic trails, and it offers engaging educational programs and hands-on conservation initiatives. Spots in the camps are limited, a waiting list is available via email, scholarships are provided for families that qualify, members-only registration opens January 14th, and general public registration opens January 25th at 9:00am.
