The studios are nut free and shellfish free, and classes are organized by age groups and skill categories with an achievement-based cooking curriculum for kids from 2 ½ to 17 years of age. Participants work with fresh new cooking themes, lessons, and recipes every month, and recipes are accessible through a parent portal.
• Ages: 2–17 years old
Flour Power Cooking Studios offers a predictable monthly flat rate membership with a discounted price for classes. The program allows families to track skills obtained in classes and kids can earn Power Pins for skills earned in class. Flour Power allows food to leave the studio, subject to local or city ordinances. The mission of Flour Power Cooking Studios is to foster a lifelong love for cooking that will positively impact the physical, mental and social well-being of individuals. Core values include welcoming everyone to the table, encouraging messes but not leaving them for others, and joyfully serving those who walk through their doors. Flour Power wants to change the perception of what it means to cook and eat a meal together.
Flour Power cooking camps include fun and educational cooking activities, and campers need to bring only a water bottle, as everything else is provided. For all classes and camps, children are asked to wear play clothes, closed toed shoes, and keep long hair tied back. Kid's Night Out classes are offered to give schedule flexibility and parent time.
Birthday parties at Flour Power include an RSVP EVITE page, a personalized message, cupcakes decorated in two favorite colors, a choice of beverages, cooking two preselected items, a chef’s hat and lollipop for each child guest, experienced instructors, setup and cleanup, a big birthday song and candle blow out, and optional party favors for purchase. Parents may bring their own birthday cake or cupcakes to parties, and there is an additional cost for each additional birthday party attendee starting with the 12th attendee. Decorations for birthday parties are limited to tabletop items or specialty balloons tied to the birthday child’s chair, and items may not be hung on the walls. Tips for staff should be brought in cash.
Flour Power Camp counts towards the Child and Dependent Care Credit. The studios have multiple locations. Corporate events can include Iron Chef style competitions and instructor-led cooking classes.
One parent shared that celebrating a daughter’s birthday at Flour Power was a wonderful experience, with effortless planning through an online document, follow-up by phone, a party set up as discussed, and a hands-on cooking experience that families and kids still mention. Another reviewer described a team-building event as engaging from start to finish, with staff who were fun, energetic, and kept the group laughing, learning, and working together. A parent reported that a child loved a chocolate factory summer camp week, noted that the child made a morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack daily, and that recipes were provided at the end of the week. Another family described a visit as a family bonding experience where they cooked meals together, found the place clean with all equipment and materials provided, learned cooking tips and tricks, and planned to return. A birthday review stated that Flour Power was the best place to have a birthday party, that the owners and employees were nice, that the staff handled everything so guests could just show up and have fun, and that the parent was interested in returning for an adult class.
