Peak Performance Shotokan Karate-Do has been in operation since 1992. The program offers high quality martial arts instruction in the northern Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area with a strong emphasis on the core values of the martial arts: self-discipline, self-confidence and self-control. Based on traditional Japanese Shotokan Karate training, combined with the current needs of its members, it provides a proven system for success and advancement.

The leadership team includes Chris Johnson, 6th Dan, Chief Instructor and owner of Peak Performance Shotokan Karate-Do dojo, and Sensei Dan (Dan Mathieu), 4th Dan. Sensei Chris has been training in traditional Japanese Shotokan Karate since 1985, achieved his first level black belt in 1992, and achieved 6th Dan rank in 2014. He became owner and Chief Instructor of Peak Performance Shotokan Karate-Do dojo in 2002, has served on the Shotokan Karate International Federation-USA board of directors since 2005, is a certified instructor, judge and referee through SKIF, and has competed internationally in Kata. Sensei Dan has been training and teaching at Peak Performance since 2007, received Shodan (1st Dan) in 2011, and Yondan (4th Dan) in 2024.

Peak Performance Shotokan Karate-Do is an officially accredited dojo of the Shotokan Karate International Federation (SKIF), and both the dojo and its instructors are officially licensed by SKIF. SKIF is a government recognised Specific Non-profit Organisation in Japan and is the world's largest Shotokan Karate association, with substantial membership in over 130 countries. Kanazawa Soke has visited Peak Performance many times since the beginning of SKIF-USA, Kancho Nobuaki Kanazawa is a frequent visitor, and Murakami Shihan has been a guest instructor at Peak Performance.

Peak Performance is co-hosting Kanazawa Kancho with New England Shotokan Karate-Do and Doshinkai Dojo SKIF-Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio, June 5th–7th.
