Armstrong Youth Basketball offers basketball programs that include both Tournament (also called Travel) teams and a Recreational League (also called House). The program organizes basketball opportunities for boys and girls in multiple grade levels within the Robbinsdale School District.
• Ages: 4–13 years old
• Schedule: Tournament (Travel) season begins in late September; Recreational League (House) runs from early November through early March
Armstrong Youth Basketball states that its basketball community strives to create fun memories and a sense of family for youth involved in either Tournament or Recreational League basketball. Armstrong tournament teams consist of boys and girls in 4th–8th grade, and Recreational League teams are for kids in PreK–8th grade. The program is for students who attend school within the District 281 boundaries, and teams for both Recreational and Tournament programs are open to all students of the Robbinsdale School District. If a family lives in the district but the child attends a school outside District 281, there is a form to fill out so the child can play. Armstrong Youth Basketball promotes and sponsors basketball opportunities for more than 400 kids who live or go to school in the Robbinsdale School District. The organization notes that playing basketball will teach many valuable life lessons such as sportsmanship, respect, hard work, and building long-term friendships.
