Quarry Hill Nature Center Programs & Camps offers year-round classes, day camps, trips, and recreation activities such as Crazy Crayfish, Nature Explorations, and Geology Rocks. The program also offers Mindfulness in Nature sessions, as well as ski and snowshoe rental for use on the park’s trails.
• Schedule: Mindfulness in Nature is offered on March 21, April 18, and May 23; the nature center is open Monday–Friday 9am–4pm, Saturday 9am–4pm, Sunday and holidays 12–4pm, and park and trail hours are dawn to dusk every day.
• Price: Ski rental is $7.50 for 4 hours, snowshoe rental is $5 for 4 hours, and Mindfulness in Nature is free for adults 18 and older.
Quarry Hill Nature Center Programs & Camps is operated by Friends of Quarry Hill Nature Center, a 501C3 non-profit environmental education organization that operates on program fees, memberships, grants, sponsorships, and private donations, with corporate sponsors including Mayo Clinic, Think Bank, Luther Park Place Motor Cars, and Lakeside Dentistry. The organization’s mission statement is “Opening eyes & minds through natural science discovery.” The leadership team includes Executive Director Pam Meyer; Volunteer & Program Coordinator/Naturalist Jill Danielsen; Office Manager Jenny Doty; Public Relations & Outreach Coordinator Lori Forstie; Naturalist/Teacher Carrie Nelson; and Teacher & Naturalist Jenna Daire. Executive Director Pam Meyer holds a degree in Earth and Space Sciences and Environmental and Outdoor Education with a minor in Geology from the University of Minnesota–Duluth and a current Minnesota teaching license for sciences in grades 5–12.
