Camp Ajawah offers a wide range of activities, including swimming and swimming classes, canoeing, rowboating, sailing, and motorboating. Campers can also play ping-pong, foosball, chess, soccer, football, softball, and ultimate frisbee, and use a climbing wall. Arts and crafts options include making dream catchers, lanyards, friendship bracelets, and tie-dye T-shirts.
• Schedule: Summer features two, 2-week dedicated sessions for boys, and two, 2-week dedicated sessions for girls.
Camp Ajawah was founded in 1922. Campers eat three full meals each day, family-style, and finish with songs. Qualified campers may take canoes, rowboats, and sailboats out by themselves.
The infirmary is staffed by a live-in health care provider who is on duty 24 hours a day. The basement of the Mess Hall serves as a storm shelter.
The Girls Camp Director is Mindy Meier, and the Boys Camp Director is Paul Blakely. Boys Camp Director Emeritus is Dave Moore (1936–2025). Rocky is Assistant Camp Director for Girls. Assistant Camp Directors for Boys are Dr. Eric D. Berg, PhD, Bryce Anderson, and Preston Grant. Bob Fulton is the Ajawah Naturalist, Julie Neville is the Camp Registrar, and Jeremy Xiong is the Camp Caretaker. The Medical Director is Dr. Linda Peitzman, M.D. The 2025 Board of Directors includes Dave Bell, Sammy Cozine, Mike Hess, Duncan Leighton, Megan MacFarlane, Donna Plotz, Meredith St. Pierre, Joe Swift, Casey Trittipo, Tanya Van der Haegen, Tou Vang, and Tou Chao Vang. Ex Officio members are Dave Moore (Camp Director Emeritus), Mindy Meier (Girls Camp Director), Jeff Hill (Treasurer), Doug van Valkenburg (Secretary), Julie Neville (Registrar), Jeremy Xiong (Caretaker), Alexandra Jacobs (WPC Staff), Maddie Lannon (WPC Staff), and Eric Sherman (Legal Counsel).
The mission of Camp Ajawah states that it values “the place and the spirit that is Ajawah in the role of nurturing the growth of whole and happy people.” The mission also states that the camp strives to build positive self-esteem, self-confidence, and independence through wilderness experience, while gaining knowledge and appreciation of the out-of-doors. It states that the camp promotes fun, friendship, and cooperation while respecting differences within a diverse community, and that it believes in developing a relationship with a God who teaches how to love and be loved.
Camp Ajawah is associated with Westminster Presbyterian Church. Dave Moore founded Boy Scout Troop 100, a troop for Hmong scouts, in 1983 and served as Scoutmaster of Troop 33 from 1965 to 2010.
