Swimming includes swim lessons, lap swimming, aquatic exercise classes, water aerobics, family swim time, and aquatic group exercise. The program also offers synchronized swimming, with classes available for ages 5 and up, including adult classes. Swimming is also included as an activity in Schools Out Camp, Kids Night Out, and Summer Day Camp, alongside games, nature exploration, and arts and crafts.

• Schedule: Most youth sports are offered in 8-week sessions with one game and one practice per week for children K–8.
For over a century, the Gateway Region YMCA has been a cornerstone of wellness in the St. Louis area. The organization is a nonprofit committed to building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities, and it provides programs such as the Safety Around Water program and other out-of-school programs. The Swimming program is part of a broader set of activities that also includes youth sports leagues, group exercise classes, water fitness, and youth fitness for ages 9 and up.
The aquatics and sports area is led by Sr. Program Director Colton Roberts, Aquatics Director Ellen Scott, and Aquatics Manager Bri Dean, with overall branch leadership that includes Executive Director Jennie Alberts and other program directors. The Gateway Region YMCA partners with over 200 employers through corporate memberships.
