About
Laurel Little Theatre Youth Productions takes place within Laurel Little Theatre’s long-running production schedule, which has included 241 productions over the last six decades. The program is part of an organization that has presented shows continuously since a small group of Laurel theatre lovers formed Laurel Little Theatre in 1961 and began staging productions at local schools and then the Armory Building before moving into its own playhouse in 1977. Laurel Little Theatre Youth Productions operates under the same umbrella as the theatre’s broader season, which is supported by online season memberships and show reservations through the Hometown Ticketing link.

Laurel Little Theatre has survived and operated for almost six decades and has recently celebrated its 60th anniversary. Over the last five decades, it has presented more than 200 shows, and over the last six decades it has presented 241 productions. Leadership has included Sandra Boutwell, who completed a three-year term as LLT Board President, and Rick Youngblood, who also served three years as LLT Board President. Laurel Little Theatre functions as a non-profit organization that has always depended on community support. The Smithsonian Museum selected Laurel as one of the nation’s top twenty small towns to visit and included a mention of Laurel Little Theatre in that recognition. The theatre organization is conducting a million-dollar fundraiser to build the new Pinehurst Room addition, which will run along the south side of the theatre building where the old Pinehurst Hotel once stood, and will include new restrooms, a Wall of Honor to list donor names, and a display of items from the former Pinehurst Hotel. The organization also features a new neon LLT sign that lights up downtown Laurel.
