About

YMCA Swimming Lessons includes Parent and Child for ages 6 months to 2 years, where infants and toddlers learn water comfort, swim readiness, water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision. It also includes K3 Swim Basics A and B for 3-year-olds, Preschool Aquatics Levels 1 and 2 for ages 4-6, Learn to Swim Levels 1 and 2 for ages 7-12, Stroke Development Level 3, Stroke Improvement Level 4, Teen Swim, Adult Swim, and Private Swim Lessons.

Programs

  • Parent and Child — Ages 6 months – 2 years · Accompanied by a parent or guardian, infants and toddlers learn water comfort, swim readiness, water safety, drowning prevention, and supervision importance.
  • K3 Swim Basics A — 3 years only · Transition class for 3-year-olds coming from Parent and Child classes; parents join in the water for the entire session.
  • K3 Swim Basics B — 3 years only · First stage of swim lessons for beginners; students are introduced to the pool and develop safe water habits.
  • Preschool Aquatics Level 1 — Ages 4-6 · First stage of swim lessons for beginners; students are introduced to the pool and develop safe water habits.
  • Preschool Aquatics Level 2 — Ages 4-6 · Second stage of swim lessons; focuses on body position and control, forward movement, directional change, and basic self-rescue skills.
  • Learn to Swim Level 1 — Ages 7-12 · Introduces students to the pool and develops safe water habits in a fun and encouraging environment.
  • Learn to Swim Level 2 — Ages 7-12 · Focuses on body position and control, forward movement, directional change, and basic self-rescue skills.
  • Stroke Development Level 3 — Ages 6-12 · Students learn how to swim to safety from a longer distance; introduces rhythmic breathing and integrated arm and leg action.
  • Stroke Improvement Level 4 — Ages 6-12 · Introduces breaststroke and butterfly and reinforces water safety through treading water and sidestroke.
  • Teen Swim — Ages 13-17 · Designed to provide adolescents with essential swimming skills and water safety knowledge in a supportive and engaging environment.
  • Adult Swim — 18+ · Helps participants gain basic aquatic skills and swimming strokes and learn skills and concepts needed to stay safe in and around water.
  • Private Swim Lessons — All ages and skill levels · Personalized one-on-one instruction with flexible scheduling; focuses on skill development, water safety, and confidence.

About the provider

The program lists certified swim instructor and certified instructors.

Parents must remain on the pool deck during their child’s swim lesson. Unless involved in the Parent and Child Class or Level 1: K3 Swim Basics A, parents are not allowed to be near the pool edge. Full refund for cancellations made 7 or more days prior; 50% refund for cancellations made 3-6 days prior; no refund within 48 hours. Private lessons must be rescheduled or canceled at least 24 hours before the appointment or the student is responsible for the cost.
