Early Learning and Youth Programs

Early Learning and Youth Programs take place within Museum of the Rockies’ exhibits and facilities, including areas focused on natural science and cultural history. Programs can connect with spaces such as the Siebel Dinosaur Complex, Paugh History Hall, Taylor Planetarium, Explore Yellowstone in the Martin Children's Discovery Center, and the Living History Farm, as well as rotating exhibitions in paleontology, cultural history, science, and astronomy. The museum is the official repository for state and federal fossils for Montana and houses one of the most significant collections of North American dinosaur fossils, including a mounted Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton known as Montana’s T. rex.

Museum of the Rockies states that its mission is to invite all people to discover natural science and cultural history through exhibits, collections, programs, and research that connect Montana and the Northern Rockies with the wider world. The museum is a Smithsonian Affiliate, is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, operates as an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit institution, and functions as a college-level division of Montana State University. Museum of the Rockies also participates in the Association of Science and Technology Centers Travel Passport Program and partners with the Montana Dinosaur Trail.
