Toe Valley Soccer Association offers soccer programs that include recreational soccer, Academy soccer, Challenge soccer, Classic soccer, and Select soccer. The program includes small-sided developmental Academy soccer, regionalized competitive Challenge soccer, state-wide competitive Classic soccer, and a hybrid Select program where Challenge and Classic teams can compete together.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Classic soccer is a one year commitment that includes both fall and spring seasons.
• Price: Recreational league registration is $60 per player for under-6 (U6), U8, U10, and U12 divisions.
The purpose of Toe Valley Soccer Association, a 501(C)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization, is to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth, education, and development of community members by enabling players to develop their skills in the game of soccer. The association has established teams for Recreation, Academy, Challenge, and Classic levels of soccer play, and its recreational program has no tryouts and follows a guaranteed participation rule. Academy soccer is a small sided developmental program for 9–11 year old players, where winning games is not the focus and no standings are kept, and players of each age group train as a group with team rosters that vary throughout the season.
The NCYSA Challenge Program offered through the association is a regionalized competitive league and is the first step into competitive soccer for players aged 8–17 in North Carolina. The NCYSA Classic Program is a state-wide competitive league and is the highest level of play offered within NCYSA for players aged 12–18, and Classic soccer is a one year commitment covering both fall and spring. The Select program is a hybrid option that allows both registered Challenge and Classic teams to participate in the same competition, with the goal of providing a place for Challenge level teams without a viable scheduling league and Classic level teams not yet ready for Classic Division 2 competition.
Toe Valley Soccer Association is affiliated with the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA), the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA), and the United States Soccer Federation (USSF). Grassroots Coaching is described by the association as the new standard of coaching and is a recommendation of US Soccer and North Carolina Youth Soccer, and volunteers are needed and welcomed. Toe Valley Soccer Association is thankful to sponsors like Dick's Sporting Goods that support youth soccer in the community, and it is located in Yancey County, North Carolina, extending its services to neighboring communities.
