Its founding principles focus on youth programs that develop skills for life while offering programs at the lowest possible cost and giving back to communities nationwide. The organization reports working with over 50,000 student athletes over more than 40 years of teaching, in more than 30 cities across 5 states, with programs in over 50 different cities in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee. Champions in Motion programs also offer competition opportunities at regional, state, national, and in some sports, international levels, with events that emphasize teamwork, performance, determination, and self-growth. Programs are taught by skilled professionals with strong knowledge and experience in their sports. Instructors and coaches are hired locally in the communities where classes are held, are screened through extensive background and reference checks, and attend in-house training on safety procedures, rules and regulations, teaching techniques, and curriculum. The organization began with Bonnie Hood’s goal in the 1950s to offer quality and accessible youth programs for young Americans, and her children now continue this tradition into the twenty-first century.
