Mad Science of Charlotte

Mad Science of Charlotte offers Mad Science Camps with science discovery, outdoor games, and take-home creations. It also offers after-school programs, 40-60 minute workshops, birthday parties with science shows, and special events with hands-on science experiences. Some camps include "Let's Get Growing" for ages 4-6 and "Red Hot Robots" for ages 8-12.

Programs

• Mad Science Camps — Designed for kids ages 4-12. Most camps are designed for rising first graders to sixth graders. Some camps are age-specific, including "Let's Get Growing" for ages 4-6 and "Red Hot Robots" for ages 8-12. · Full-day and half-day options available. Full-day camps are 7 hours long and run from 9AM to 4PM. Half-day camps are 3 hours long and run from 9AM to 12PM or 1PM to 4PM. · Interactive, hands-on science programs with science discovery, outdoor games, and take-home creations. Group sizes of 20-25. Ages and maximum numbers vary by topic. Minimum enrollment is 10 campers.
• After-School Programs — Designed for kids ages 5-12. Preschool programs available. Preschool classes are for preschoolers. · Standard program is held immediately after school for 60-90 minutes and typically lasts between 6 and 12 weeks. Preschool clubs are generally 45 minute sessions.
• Workshops — 40-60 minute workshops. · Interactive, engaging science programs for groups of campers.
• Birthday Parties — High-energy, interactive science shows that come to you. Kids can experience cool demonstrations, chemical reactions, and activities.
• Special Events — Unique, hands-on science experiences for special events.

About the provider

Mad Science was founded in 1985 in Montreal, Canada, and Mad Science of Charlotte has been running camps in this area since 1998. Its instructors are former teachers, current college students majoring in education with previous classroom experience, or teachers on summer break. Instructors complete extensive training and background checks. The mission is to inspire children through science, sparking lifelong imagination and curiosity.

Payment is required at the time of registration for after-school programs. Refund policy: 100% up to 15 days before class starts; 50% may be retained if you cancel within 14 days of the start. Class cancellation follows the inclement weather and school closure policy of the school district in which they are instructing. They will attempt to schedule a make-up class if the cancelled class takes place at least one week before the start of the next program. Camp minimum enrollment is 10. Camp instructors have extensive background checks. Some camps are divided by age, but most are not.
