The Pointe School of Dance – Summer Dance Programs offers a 6-week dance class session, summer dance camps, and a full week-long Technique Intensive. Children and teens can take part in dance class, one-day and three-day themed dance camps, and focused Ballet and Technique Intensives that include dancing, music, stories, games, and snacks. Summer dance programs at The Pointe are described as active and creative fun, and campers do not need prior dance experience to participate in dance camp.

Students as young as 12 months through adults can participate in the 6-week dance class session, and one-day and three-day themed camps are offered for ages 3–12. A full week-long Technique Intensive is available for dedicated dancers ages 6–18, and camps are available for kids ages 3 and up with themes for many different interests. Dance classes welcome beginning students of all ages and also serve dancers training through advanced levels.
The Pointe School of Dance states that its studio is driven to provide professional and experienced dance instruction in a safe, innovative, and enriching environment, with a focus on safety and wellness for every student. The studio has secured facilities, viewing windows, and social media safety practices. Teaching staff are YPAD Certified, and teachers are background checked and CPR certified.
The Pointe School of Dance is YPAD Certified and is Cedar Rapids’ only MTJGD affiliated studio, and MTJGD is comprised of studios that follow specific standards in curriculum, business management, and community involvement. The studio notes that it is “More Than Just Great Dancing” and that dancers go beyond technique to develop important life skills, including learning to be respectful, confident, and conscientious young people who share their gifts and talents with the community.
Registration for summer classes opens for current Pointe School of Dance families on February 7 and for the community on February 10. Front desk hours are Monday through Thursday from 4:30PM to 8:30PM, Friday by appointment, and Saturday from 9:00AM to noon, and the studio is closed on holidays and Sundays.
One parent, Jana, shares that both her son and daughter look forward to going to class and that the staff, instructors, and assistants are invested in them having fun, learning, and feeling good about themselves, and she describes the studio as a dance family.
