• Price: Cost per player $30

Seattle Youth Soccer Association states that its mission is “to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth of all children looking to play soccer in the cities of Seattle and Shoreline,” and to “provide safe, educational and fun environments for all players to develop skills through the sport of soccer, at all levels of competency and ages.” The TOPSoccer Wildcats program is part of SYSA’s citywide TOPSoccer Program that supports soccer for players with disabilities and is nationally supported through US Youth Soccer. It is a community-based soccer program for boys and girls, men and women, 4 years old and up who have a cognitive and/or physical disability, and is organized by youth soccer association volunteers.

TOPSoccer Wildcats is described as a recreational sports program for children with intellectual, emotional, or physical disabilities offered through local soccer clubs. The program enables players to participate at levels consistent with their skills, not necessarily their age, and session times are grouped for younger and less able-bodied players in the first hour and for older and more able-bodied players in the second hour. Volunteer “Buddies” assist and/or support players on the field, are typically high school students seeking volunteer opportunities connected to sports, education, and people with disabilities, and do not need to be soccer players themselves to help. Families, coaches, and buddies connect around soccer activities, and players and buddies can register and play at any point during the season.

For each special needs player, the cost covers coach gifts, trophies or other swag, and an end of year party, and there is no charge for coaches, buddies, and siblings. Seattle Youth Soccer Association is a nonprofit governance organization that brings support and soccer opportunities at all levels of play to children aged 5–19 across the cities of Seattle and Shoreline, and it includes 12 neighborhood recreational clubs, 1 citywide club that oversees regional select, premier, and ECNL programs, and 1 citywide TOPSoccer Program that supports soccer for players with disabilities. SYSA also hosts an annual City Tournament, recreational level leagues, skills clinics, coach education, a school program, and outreach programs.
